Happy New You !

Fairfield’s recent Happy New You! event has been a fantastic success. The event was held on Thursday 24 January to celebrate the New Year and promote some of the services available to tenants from the Co-operative and it’s partners. Part of the Co-operative’s 20th Anniversary Year celebrations, the staff were delighted to have attracted just under 100 residents and visitors, young and old, who all joined in the fun and the spirit of the occasion.

Participating in the event were the Dunfermline Building Society promoting the Savings & Loan Scheme, Perth & Kinross Live Active Team encouraging tenants to use local leisure facilities, Environmental Services Team promoting recycling and SCARF, offering energy saving advice.

A big hit was the celebration of both Scottish and Polish cultures with food tasting of traditional Scot’s fare and authentic Polish food, provided by local Polish shop, Wee Polska of Methven Street.

Local businesses including St Johnstone Football Club, Tesco, Asda, Dunfermline Building Society. Dobbie’s Garden World and Crieff Road Newsagents provided a range of raffle prizes which raised over £150 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

The star prize a signed St Johnstone football was won by Mary Adams of McLeod Court. A bemused 93 year old Mary was not quite sure what to do with it but promised a ‘kick about’ with some of her neighbours.
