Fairfield Heroes
The community spirit which makes Fairfield one of Perth’s jewels has shown through yet again during the current arctic conditions, as with most of Perth City snow and ice are causing chaos to Fairfield residents, with the vulnerable and elderly being most at risk. Alice McGuire and Ina McCole, organisers of the Fairfield weekly Pensioners Lunch Club went that wee bit further this week checking on the majority of the old folks in the area to make sure they were safe and warm and had enough food to keep them going. At a sprightly 62 and 63 respectively Alice and Ina battled through the dreadful conditions to get emergency shopping and supplies for a number of Fairfield residents. One of those, Evelyn Myles of McLeod Court, is disabled and has difficulty getting around at the best of times. She said “Both Ina and Alice have been brilliant, checking on neighbours and those they know might be struggling. They made sure I had enough food and power and it’s great to know there are people here who will help you out.”
