Fairfield's 21st A.G.M.
Fairfield Housing Co-operative's 21st Annual General Meeting was held on Monday night, in the heart of the community at the Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre. A packed out audience comprising of shareholders and invited guests heard an informative presentation on the Co-operative's excellent performance businesswise in 2008/9, with excellent Performance Indicators and a robust financial position being maintained. Highlights of the year included the addition of two further awards from the Chamber of Commerce and Perth Civic Trust, adding to Fairfield's already bulging trophy cabinet plus the introduction of free gardening services for vulnerable residents and the introduction of successful recycling facilities to the area.
Grant Ager the Co-operative's Director said "The turnout of residents tonight was tremendous and only reinforces our real bond with the local community and their continued interest in shaping our work. We have a busy year ahead with new developments coming on stream and our continued partnership working across Perth and Kinross. Housing needs are increasing not diminishing and we are well placed to play our part, however, increased investment is still crucial along with a return to sensible grant levels"
Grant paid special tribute to one of the guests, Architect Les Brown of Fraser Brown Newman, who has worked with Fairfield for over two decades and who is due to retire in the next few months " Les was one of the key players in the early days and always a delight to work with. We wish him a long and happy retirement"
