2010 Capital Programme

The Co-operative is continuing it’s commitment to investing and enhancing it’s properties by making further improvements over the coming year. The second phase of the bathroom replacement programme will commence in the summer, with 44 properties in Angus Court and Tulloch Road benefitting from new white bathroom suites, extractor fans, non-slip flooring and optional electric showers. Tenants who received new bathrooms last year were highly delighted with them and reported back high levels of satisfaction with the finished product and the contractor who carried out the work.

This work will be put out to tender in the spring and it is hoped that it will commence after the local summer trades holidays. More information will appear on the website when a contractor and start date are known.

The Co-operative’s properties all have hard-wired smoke alarms but these only have a shelf life of 10 years, so to ensure the safety of all of our tenants, we will be starting to replace these over a phased period. You are more than twice as likely to die in a fire at home if you haven't got a smoke alarm. A smoke alarm is the easiest way to alert you to the danger of fire, giving you precious time to escape. To keep your smoke alarm in good working order, you should test it once a week, by pressing the test button until the alarm sounds.

The first 52 homes in Fairfield Avenue, McDonald Court and 1 – 3 Leslie Court will be visited by local electricians Allan Whytes, who will inspect, test and replace smoke alarms which have reached the end of their life expectancy. A start date has yet to be agreed with the contractor and will be posted on the website when known.
